Purpose of the Job:
As part of the INOVA Engineering team, the Electronics Engineer will carry out the design of seismic acquisition products. While working closely with the design team, the candidate will analyze the existing electronic circuitry and make recommendations for design improvements. They will test hardware components, create test plans, conduct testing, and write test reports.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
1. Develop new ideas and design concepts in a team environment. Lead and participate in design reviews.
2. Work closely with the design team and create drawings, diagrams, and specifications for electronic assemblies. These duties include but not limited to:
a. Electronics schematic design
b. Create specifications for electronic assemblies for INOVA’s Contract Manufacturer
c. Engage in system architecture design, power and cost budgeting
3. Test design concepts utilizing simulation tools or physical demonstrators. Lab bench testing, soldering, and debugging of prototypes.
4. Determine root cause failure analysis of electronic assemblies.
5. Develop test plans for product qualification and design assurance.
6. Collaboratively develop new product specifications based on requirements.
7. Be adept at balancing project priorities and timely communicate changes and shifts from goals.
8. Support and manage 3rd party engineering teams to perform tasks assigned to them.
9. Participate in specialist and multidisciplinary team meetings.
10. Write and implement engineering processes, procedures. Complete Documentation including, but not limited to, Engineering Change Notices, Deviations Waivers, NPR’s and field service bulletins.
11. Work in accordance with all legislation and company policy requirements pertaining to employee safety, health and wellness.
Qualifications:
1. Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering
2. 5+ years of experience designing analog instrumentation, data acquisition systems, power supply design and circuits and high-speed digital circuitry.
3. Proven track record of schematic and PCB design experience using Altium and creating specifications for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fabrication.
4. Experience with test equipment and instrumentation used in electronics validation.
5. Embedded design experience with microprocessors, and FPGAs.
6. Firmware development experience preferred.
7. Understanding of successful product commercialization.
8. Some understanding of MEMs technology would be an asset.
9. Data/statistical analysis experience would be an asset.
Job Requirements:
Must be able and willing to travel internationally as work requires.
Be able to lift weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

Possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
Able to effectively interact with vendors, customers and other Inova personnel.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily in an indoor, well-lit office and lab area.
Some work to be completed in the manufacturing area, with some requirement for Personal Protective Equipment.
Sometimes subject to loud noises.
