Tesla Overcomes Allegheny's Complex Terrain with Hawk™ Nodal System

Projects of Interest
INOVA's Hawk System Swoops In and Captures the Marcellus Shale – In 2012, Tesla Exploration, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tesla Exploration LTD, was awarded a 3D/3C cableless acquisition project located in northern West Virginia near the Allegheny Mountain Range. The survey area was surrounded by dense hardwood forests, steep valleys and rolling hills that posed significant health, safety and environmental (HSE) challenges. Field operations with cable-based recording systems would have been highly inefficient or nearly impossible in this area. Even for an experienced crew, navigating through the thick underbrush and terrain elevations to deploy equipment would be cumbersome and hazardous. Realizing the difficulties that lay ahead, Tesla selected INOVA's autonomous nodal technology, Hawk.

Land Recording Technology for Transition Zone (TZ) Acquisition

Projects of Interest
Dual-Purpose ARIES System Simplifies Integrated Land & TZ Surveys – A Terraseis crew operating along the Bakassi Peninsula of Cameroon managed a 157 sq km integrated land and transition zone survey located in an active fishing community. Thousands of boats cruised along the shoreline, creating a challenging environment that had the potential to hinder productivity and data quality. The crew utilized an ARIES recording system to acquire in excess of 15,000 shot points of high quality data. The success of this operation led to their recent purchase of a new ARIES II system for subsequent transition zone work. Read the Case Study

Going Cableless In Haynesville

Projects of Interest
FireFly Expands Its Presence – As FireFly continues to be deployed in different operations around the world, we are finding new ways to expand the system’s functionality to deal with a variety of operational challenges. Our customers understand the benefits a cableless system can bring to their operation from the standpoints of productivity, imaging, and HSE. FireFly has just completed the second phase of a 170 sq km survey in East Texas on a landscape that includes heavy canopy, lakes, industrial infrastructure, and private land. Using mixed sources including vibroseis, dynamite, and airguns, approximately 12,250 source points were acquired with more than 14,000 3C receiver points. Watch the Video

Operational Efficiency Yields Early Completion of 3C/3D Survey

Projects of Interest
INOVA's Scorpion-VectorSeis Technology Competes with Mother Nature in China – A Sinopec land acquisition crew in China was faced with several natural and man-made obstacles on a 572 sq km acquisition. Despite excessive background noise created from earthquake aftershocks, rivers, towns, cities, and factories, the project finished 43 days ahead of schedule. The crew operated a VectorSeis-equipped Scorpion system to capture high quality multicomponent seismic data in the foothills of Sichuan, China, and successfully acquired data from over 16,000 shot points on the 73-day project.
