Scorpion System Components

Central Recording System – The Central Recording System (CRS) includes ruggedized computers mounted in a shock-protected chassis that run on LINUX to improve overall system stability and up-time.

Central System Software – The Central System Software provides a user-friendly interface running on Microsoft Windows for the operator to visually manage the ground electronics, sources, and data quality control of the acquisition.

Truck Interface Module – The Truck Interface Module (TIM) connects the seismic spread to the CRS. It encompasses six built-in auxiliary channels and allows for two source controller connections at the same time.

Digital Unit (D-Unit) – The D-Unit is an inline ground electronic that acquires and transmits data digitally from up to three VectorSeis receiver stations.

Analog Unit (A-Unit) – The A-Unit is an inline ground electronic unit that acquires analog data and transmits it digitally from geophones connected to up to three takeouts.

Crossline Unit (XLU) – The XLU is the intelligent ground electronic unit that provides high-speed fiber connection between seismic receiver lines and the central recording system.

Battery Booster Unit (BBU) – The BBU ground electronic unit provides power to the crossline units and multiple A-Units and D-Units on the receiver line.

DataBridge™ – The optional DataBridge provides a wireless communication path between two XLUs to aid obstacle avoidance in the field.
