Scorpion is a field-proven land acquisition system designed to operate with geophones or the industry leading VectorSeis 3C digital receivers. With flexible and scalable architecture, Scorpion accommodates the most challenging survey designs, while its user-friendly software and hardened ground electronics maximize operational productivity in any climate or terrain. Scorpion provides a high channel count seismic recording platform complete with:

  • Intuitive user interfaces built on Microsoft® Windows® technology offering easy adoption, streamlined set up, customizable reports, and spatially-correct map displays and schematic views
  • Advanced telemetry features supporting 30,000 channels real-time at 2 ms sampling on fiber optic base lines and ensuring data retrieval by storing recorded data in the field electronics for a period of time in the event of cable breaks or power interruptions
  • Fully-integrated source control eliminating the need for additional computers and applications and allowing observers to coordinate highly productive source-driven operations with speed and efficiency
  • Power-down-the-line, reducing the amount of equipment necessary for deployment and thereby improves on logistics-related overhead and overall system weight. This can be particularly important in challenging areas where security issues or the lack of access roads and infrastructure make battery management and replacement inefficient.

Scorpion Overview:

INOVA’s Scorpion accommodates a variety of survey design parameters, including:
  • Source-driven vibroseis, dynamite, or mixed-mode operations
  • 2D, high-density 3D, or time-lapse 4D acquisition
  • Hybrid analog and digital 3C receiver spreads
  • Master/Slave operations with INOVA’s cable-based ARIES II or third-party systems
In addition, Scorpion includes a host of features designed to deliver enhanced field productivity with no sacrifice to data quality, including:
  • Near-zero overhead time between shots when rolling spreads
  • Various source driven and manual shooting modes including flip-flop
  • Spread flexibility including three-port crossline units, spread anchor points, and DataBridge™ wireless backbones
  • VectorSeis single-point receivers that reduce system weight and increase field productivity
  • SourceAware™ to ensure adherence to survey parameters by alerting observers of potential problems before each shot
